InfoLock Personal User – Guide

When Accessing the Program for the First Time

  1. Set a unique Username; this must be a minimum of three characters.
  2. Set a unique Password; this must be a minimum of six characters.
  3. Validate your chosen Password.
  4. Click next or press Enter when finished.
  5. Set a Secret Question and type the corresponding answer. Note that if the password is forgotten and the program requires a recall of this question/answer combination , it must be typed exactly as it appears here.
  6. A screen will now be displayed showing your user name, secret question and answer. Click next to acknowledge.
  7. Next to continue.

Accessing the Program After the First Use

  1. Enter your Username.
  2. Enter your Password.
  3. Next or press enter.
  4. Your Username together with your secret question and answer will be displayed on the screen as a reminder for two seconds.

Securing Your Data

a. PC Option only

    Once you have accessed InfoLock you will be presented with the Main Screen.
  1. Type any information  you wish to keep secure in this box. Once thei.e. On the Go facility not requested.
  2. Once you have accessed InfoLock you will be presented with the Main Screen information has been entered click on the save button to confirm.
  3. You can amend, delete or add information to this box at any time. Use the scroll down bar to move up and down through the data.
  4. You can customize your data by clicking on the Formatting button at the top of the screen. This facility allows you to change fonts, highlight, embolden, underline and arrange your text.

b. On the Go Option Included:

  1. Once you have accessed InfoLock you will be presented with a box with the Main Screen and PC Selected will be displayed in the top left corner. Enter any information you wish to secure for access via your PC in this screen, customizing it using the Formatting button as required.
  2. The On The Go tags will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. To change option click on the corresponding tag, for example to change to WAP click on the Phone tag.
  3. Each tag presents you with a blank screen into which you can enter your confidential information. Ensure that you enter all the relevant information under each On the Go option – this might mean duplicating certain information using the Copy/Paste facility. Only the information typed into the relevant screen will be accessible from that medium – for example if you type your Pin Number into the PC screen but not into the WAP screen you will not be able to access this information from your WAP phone. However, all the information in all the boxes will always be available to view or amend from the PC – so anything that has been forgotten can be added later.

To Amend Your On The Go Options:

  1. The “On The Go” Screen will be displayed. If you want to be able to access your data from the Web (internet) , PDA (palm top) or WAP (mobile phone) then click one or more of the boxes as required. Please Note – The On The Go options can be amended at any time.
  2. You will also be given some security options. If you want InfoLock to lock out for 24 hours if there have been at least 3 consecutive failed attempts to login then tick the first option. If you want to ensure that InfoLock is inaccessible for a certain period of time, for example you are going on holiday, then tick the second option and set the date. You do not have to use either of these options.

On The Go options can be added or removed at any time by clicking on the Options button at the bottom of the Main Screen. Securing Files  i.e. Files from other applications such as Excel, Word etc.
From the Main Screen click on the Files button at the bottom of the screen.

To Secure a File

Click on the Add button at the bottom of the screen. This will open a browser window for you to locate the file you wish to secure. Click on the file name. The file name and path will now be displayed in InfoLock. The status will show as “add”. To confirm that this is the file you want to secure highlight the path/file name and click save. The message “processing” will be displayed promptly followed by “secure –and the date secured”. This file has now been encrypted.  You can continue to add files as required – if you want to secure more than one file at any one time then it is quicker to add all the relevant files before securing them by saving.
Please note – your original files are still in their original state in their original location. It is for you to decide if you want to delete them and retain only the encrypted version.

To Restore a File

To restore a file to its previous state, highlight the path/file name of the file you wish to restore. Click on the Restore button at the bottom left of the screen. The status will now change to “restore”. If the original unencrypted copy of the file has been deleted you will be asked where you want to save the restored file. Browse to the location where you want to save the file and press ok. The file will now be saved in its’ original decrypted state to that location.

To Remove a File

To completely remove a previously secured file from InfoLock, highlight the path/file name of the file you wish to remove. Click on the Remove button at the bottom left of the screen. The status now changes to “remove”. Note - if you have deleted the original file then do not remove the file from InfoLock unless you no longer require it – use the Restore option.

To Update a File

To ensure that the most up to date version of a file has been secured, click on the Update File button at the bottom of the screen. To return to the main screen, click on Back. To exit the program at any time click on Exit

Forgotten Your Password?

Provided you enter the correct user name you can always retrieve your password by using your secret question. Enter your username as normal, then enter ??? three question marks for the password. You will be asked which question you answered when you first entered the InfoLock program. Choose the correct question and then type the answer exactly as you entered it originally – you would have been reminded of both the question and the answer on all subsequent entries to InfoLock. Provided both the question and the answer are correct a screen will flash up for a few seconds showing your password. The Main Screen will then be displayed.
