FAQs

Q. How can I print the information that I have recorded so that I can check it away from my computer?

A.  Infolock products specifically exclude a print option as it is viewed as a potential security risk. You could, if necessary, “Copy and Paste” the information from the Infolock information window into Word, Notepad or the equivalent and print from there.

Q I pasted a spreadsheet file into the information window, then I have saved it and exited. When I opened the window again the spreadsheet file had disappeared. Why?

A. InfolockUSB only provides for input and retrieval of free form text. Whilst embedding  (and saving) “files” of data is not specifically disabled by InfolockUSB you need InfolockPlus if you want to retrieve such files

Q. I need the sort of security that Infolock offers. I have been put off of other products either because they seem to be so complicated or they go way beyond what I really need. Is Infolock straightforward?

A. Simplicity is the Infolock credo. Infolock has been deliberately designed to be simple to understand and simple to use. Infolock does not set out to be all things to all men, nor is it overburdened with fancy features which add nothing to the level of security.

Q. I’ve just downloaded Infolock and I’ve set up my password. How do I record my confidential information?

A. You will see that Infolock has opened up a window. You simply type into that window anything that you want to record and safeguard. When you have finished you simply click Save&Exit. The information will then be encrypted and saved. Next time you use Infolock this information will automatically be retrieved, decrypted and re-presented in a window. You can then view, modify or supplement as required. Further HELP

Q. Infolock opens up with a window which allows me to type info and it only ever lets me see this one window. How do I get it to look after Word documents, Excel spreadsheets or Image files for me?

A. Infolock is designed so that there is only ever one “physical” file which needs to be safeguarded. Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, etc. which are in themselves physical files, can be copied into the “safe” environment via cut&paste , but for this feature you will need InfolockPlus. Such files will appear in the InfolockPlus window as Icons, which, when clicked, will display the information in its original form.

Q. I need to transfer sensitive data files on a USB stick from my computer at home to my computer at work and vice versa. Can I do this with Infolock?

A. You need InfolockPlus on the USB stick. Simply use Copy&Paste (or Cut&Paste if you want to destroy the source file/s on the originating computer ) into the InfolockPlus window. Each file will then appear as an individual icon in the InfolockPlus window. Insert your USB stick into the destination computer, start up InfolockPlus, highlight the appropriate icon in the InfolockPlus window, then copy(or cut)&paste into the required folder.

Q. I am thinking about upgrading to InfolockPlus but I don’t want to re-record all of my information again in order to use it. Will I need to do this or will InfolockPlus let me carry on using the information store that has already been set up by Infolock?

A. InfolockPlus will simply pick up the existing information store automatically. You don’t need to do a thing.
